Five Star Pictures, LLC (“Five Star”), is an exciting, independent film company created by Scott Woolley, Bill Shaffer and John Paul DeJoria who have combined their resources to create this dynamic company.. Scott Woolley has been providing broadcast and cable networks with exciting, cost-effective, entertaining and educational television and film programming for over 15 years. Bill Shaffer brings years of experience and relationships from within the Hollywood film community. John Paul DeJoria is widely known throughout the business community for his uncanny ability for making good sound business decisions.

John Paul DeJoria is widely known throughout the business community for his uncanny ability for making good sound business decisions. Scott Woolley has been providing broadcast and cable networks with exciting, cost-effective, entertaining and educational television and film programming for over 12 years. Bill Shaffer brings years of experience and relationships from within the Hollywood film community to this newly formed company.

OUR STRATEGY

Our strategy is born of our collective experience, and we will be completely transparent with our partners about every step.

First, any project we decide to pursue represents the result of dozens of scripts we've read and rejected. We have the qualifications that allow us to evaluate a script creatively as well as financially, and we know the market forces and trends that influence movie-goers.

Second, we will be extremely selective about the talent we partner with. In some cases, they will be known and established in the business. In others, they'll be young talent we find especially promising.

Initially, we will only take on projects in the “advanced development” phase. Since it takes so many key creative people (actors, director, producers, writers, etc.) to make a film, we are interested only in those projects that have already secured commitments from these key people.

For example, one of our current projects started with a screenplay by a prestigious, established director who, through loyalty, friendship and colleagues, has already secured A-list actors, producers, and crew. So not only are we committing to a script: we're committing to an impressive group of people committed to bringing this script to life.

From this point, we'll take the project and arrange financing. When possible, we will seek the position of “last money in and first money out.”

The fact that we are bi-coastal, with offices in Los Angeles and studios facilities in Florida , enables us to take a hands-on approach to every phase of the filmmaking process.
